As the mist moves in across the Southern Highlands countryside at this time of the year, when the days are very hot and the afternoons are cool. The kangaroos, cows and other animals go about feeding as usual.
It is for them just another day, but for us, like a master’s painting, it is a thing of beauty!
As a popular website stated recently, “STYLING is in the spotlight right now. Once, it was a somewhat a mysterious profession. Stylists were invisible people who made pictures look good, but who never really got much time in the spotlight themselves. These days, styling is a sought after gig”.
Well, one of those (invisible) stylists, working behind the camera with over 30+ years creating images is French stylist Fifi O’Neill. Recently she celebrated a very special birthday, her 70th, a real milestone, and she is just about to release another book. I believe creativity never stops, no matter what age you are and Fifi is testimony of that! Please celebrate with us the remarkable work of this beautiful, talented and very kind lady.
Our motto for Styling Magazine for this year is to be “Be Gentle with the World” and I couldn’t think of a more suitable creative and dynamic couple that both live and breathe from the heartbeat of gentleness.
Decorator, Brooke Giannetti and her husband, renowned architect Steve Giannetti, are about to release their second book, ‘Patina Farm’. Many of us dream of building the perfect home in the country, Brooke and Steve have actually done it! And, they have done it so beautifully!
I am delighted to share my new issue with you, and also to share three little paintings that have been in our family for over a hundred years. My favourite is this little birds nest, featured on the cover. The sweet little moss covered bird's nest on a lichen covered apple blossom branch. It is so very typical of my own garden here in the Southern Highlands of NSW. The artist, unknown, (I think she was a great Aunt) has painted these three scenes, it was as if she was sitting up in the tree with the little birds.

Refection upon reflection upon reflection turns everything inside out. The shades of the sky, the twinkle of the sea and the movement of the clouds all reflect our beautiful world. Let your imagination go, let it fall into the mirror ball (or in this styling job, 100's of mirror balls). Watch where it takes you as it spins and reflects the colours...a perfect balance of light and illusion.
